Biography

Born in 1962 in Dushanbe, Tajikistan in a family of intellectuals. In 1980 A. Latif-Zade finished Secondary Special Music School named after M. Sabirova making a specialty of a violinist and of a composer. The same year Latif-Zade entered the Moscow State Conservatoire named after P.I Tchaikovsky, which he graduated from in 1985 as a composer (professor A. Pirumov), Harmony (prof.Y.Kholopov) and Orchestration (prof.K.Khachaturian). The first international success came in 1987 when the young composer's work, "Oriental Sketch" for saxophone and piano won the selection in Germany for a concert of the Tajik composers works.

The main success came to the composer when he was selected (one of 16 composers from the Silk Road countries) to participate in the "Silk Road Project Inc" , initiated by Internationally acclaimed cellist Yo-Yo MaYo-Yo Ma.(2000)

His commissioned work «Circles of Time " was featured and performed for the Project to an audience of highly -respected peers, including well-known US composer John Williams and Boston Symphony Orchestra conductor Seiji Ozawa.

Latif-Zade lives in New York since 2004 .The Composer is engaged in creative and pedagogical activity. He is an organizer and permanent participant of the International Musical Festivals. The composer collaborates with musicians, conductors and musical collectives worldwide. Mr.A.Latif-Zade composes music of different genres and styles. In last compositions A.Latif-Zade tries to create a new style in music, that is the synthesis of Orient, Western, Jazz and Classic music. Composer's special aspiration is to assist the process of rapprochement of the people professing different religions (like he does, for example, in his trio "Cross and Crescent", the ton poem "Apocalypse", octet " Circles of time ", "Tolerance", "Heaven's Voice").
